Description

A crispy, golden phyllo pastry pocket filled with warm, creamy feta cheese, finished with a drizzle of sweet honey and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. This Mediterranean-inspired appetizer is the perfect balance of savory and sweet, making it irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 sheets phyllo dough
  • 4 ounces feta cheese (cut into rectangular blocks)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the Phyllo Dough:

    • Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush lightly with melted butter.
    • Place another sheet on top and repeat the butter brushing process.
  3. Assemble the Pockets:

    • Place a block of feta cheese in the center of the phyllo.
    • Fold the phyllo over the feta, wrapping it like a parcel.
    • Brush the top with a mix of butter and olive oil.
  4. Bake:

    • Place the wrapped feta on the prepared baking sheet and repeat for the remaining pieces.
    • Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Finish & Serve:

    • Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with warm honey.
    • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and black pepper, if desired.
    • Serve warm and enjoy the crispy, melty goodness!

Notes

  • Try using goat cheese or halloumi as an alternative to feta.
  • For extra crunch, add a sprinkle of crushed pistachios or walnuts.
  • Pairs perfectly with a glass of white wine or fresh fruit on the side.
