- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- Salt and ground black pepper, to taste
- 3 cups peeled and thinly sliced potatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- Make the Sauce:
- In a medium bowl, combine condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Layer the Casserole:
- In a 2-quart baking dish, layer the ingredients in the following order:
- Thinly sliced potatoes
- A portion of the soup mixture
- Browned ground beef
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with the soup mixture on top.

- Bake:
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 to 1 ½ hours, or until the potatoes are tender.
- Add Cheese:
- Remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!
