- 2 tbsp olive oil, divided
- 3 cups broccoli florets
For the Sauce:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients
- Slice the sirloin steak thinly across the grain into bite-sized pieces.
- In a bowl, combine all sauce ingredients and whisk until smooth.
- Cook the Broccoli
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over high heat until shimmering.
- Add the broccoli and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp. Transfer to a plate.
- Cook the Beef
- Heat the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil in the same skillet.
- Spread the sliced beef in a single layer and let it sear undisturbed for 1 minute.
- Stir and cook for an additional minute until slightly rare to prevent toughness.
- Combine and Finish
- Return the broccoli to the skillet. Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli.
- Stir well, allowing the sauce to coat the ingredients and thicken, about 1-3 minutes.
- Serve
- Remove from heat and serve immediately. Pair with steamed rice for a complete meal.
Notes
- Substitute chicken or tofu for a different protein.
- Adjust the sweetness or saltiness of the sauce by modifying the sugar or soy sauce quantities.
- Add other vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for variety.
