Ingredients

Units Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Seasoning:

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Optional Garnish:

  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the chicken:
    • Season the chicken breasts with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper on both sides.
  3. Assemble the bake:
    • Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Spoon the marinara sauce evenly over each piece of chicken. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  5. Broil (optional):
    • For a golden, bubbly top, switch the oven to broil for the last 2–3 minutes of baking.
  6. Garnish and serve:
    • Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Pair with pasta, roasted vegetables, or a simple green salad for a complete meal.
  • Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for a juicier alternative. Adjust cooking time as needed.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
