Ingredients

Units Scale

Meat:

  • 14 oz kielbasa sausage, sliced

Produce:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Canned Goods:

  • 2 cups chicken broth

Pasta & Grains:

  • 1 cup white or brown rice

Baking & Spices:

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Oils & Vinegars:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Dairy:

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Sauté the Kielbasa: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced kielbasa and cook until browned, about 4–5 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Cook the Rice: In the same skillet, add garlic powder, onion powder, and rice. Stir to coat, then pour in the chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes (or until rice is tender).
  3. Add Broccoli & Kielbasa: Stir in the broccoli and return the kielbasa to the skillet. Cover and cook for another 5 minutes until the broccoli is tender.
  4. Make It Cheesy: Remove from heat and stir in sour cream. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top and cover for 2 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt.
  5. Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions and serve warm. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Swap white rice for brown rice or quinoa for a healthier option.
  • Use turkey or chicken sausage for a lighter version.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for extra spice.
