Ingredients
- Croissants, sliced in half
- Deli ham, thinly sliced (e.g., black forest ham)
- Cheese, thinly sliced (Muenster, Havarti, Cheddar, Swiss, etc.)
- Mayonnaise
- Stoneground mustard, to taste
- Fresh chives, chopped (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Mayonnaise Mixture
- In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, a squeeze of stoneground mustard, and a few chopped fresh chives (if using). Mix well.
Step 3: Assemble the Croissants
- Spread a bit of the mayonnaise mixture on the bottom half of each croissant.
- Layer a slice of cheese, some deli ham, and another slice of cheese on top. Cover with the top half of the croissant.
Step 4: Bake the Croissants
- Place the assembled croissants on a baking sheet. Cover them with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the croissants are heated through.
- For a crispy top, remove the foil during the last 3-5 minutes of baking.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
- Remove the croissants from the oven and serve immediately.
Notes
- Customize the cheese and ham to suit your taste.
- Add a slice of tomato or a handful of spinach for extra flavor and nutrition.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the oven at 300°F for 5-7 minutes.
