Description

These Almond Frangipane Stuffed Rolls are soft, buttery, and filled with a rich almond-flavored frangipane. Made with King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls and topped with sliced almonds and powdered sugar, these golden-baked treats are perfect for breakfast, dessert, or an indulgent snack.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Frangipane Filling:

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 tbsp salted butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt

For the Rolls:

  • 1 (12-count) package King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls (or brioche rolls)
  • Unsalted butter (for greasing)

For the Topping:

  • 1 large egg + 1 tbsp whole milk (for egg wash)
  • 1/3 cup sliced almonds
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Frangipane Filling

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, sugar, softened butter, egg, almond extract, vanilla extract, and salt.
  2. Mix until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Rolls

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with unsalted butter.
  2. Slice the King’s Hawaiian Rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected as a whole sheet.
  3. Spread the almond frangipane filling evenly over the bottom half.
  4. Place the top half of the rolls back on, pressing gently.

Step 3: Add Toppings & Bake

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together egg and milk to make an egg wash.
  2. Brush the tops of the rolls with egg wash, then sprinkle with sliced almonds.
  3. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and slightly crispy on top.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy

  1. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  2. Dust with powdered sugar, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra almond flavor, drizzle with an almond glaze (powdered sugar + almond extract + milk).
  • Best served fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Pairs perfectly with coffee or tea for a delightful morning treat!
