Description

The Watermelon Paloma is a vibrant twist on the classic Paloma cocktail, blending sweet watermelon with tart grapefruit juice, zesty lime, and smooth tequila. Served over ice in a chili-lime seasoned glass and topped with sparkling water, it’s a refreshing, fruity, and spicy drink ideal for warm weather and festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh watermelon, cubed

  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed grapefruit juice

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

  • 2 oz silver tequila

  • 1 oz agave syrup or simple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • Sparkling water, to top

  • Ice cubes

For Garnish:

  • Watermelon wedge

  • Fresh mint leaves

  • Chili-lime seasoning (e.g., Tajín) for rim

Instructions

  1. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each serving glass. Dip the rim into chili-lime seasoning to coat.

  2. In a blender, combine cubed watermelon, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and agave syrup. Blend until smooth.

  3. (Optional) Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture.

  4. Fill a glass with ice. Add tequila and the blended watermelon-grapefruit mix.

  5. Top with sparkling water and stir gently to combine.

  6. Garnish with a wedge of watermelon and a sprig of fresh mint. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Make it a mocktail by skipping the tequila and adding more sparkling water.

  • Chill your ingredients beforehand for an extra cold and crisp drink.

  • Adjust sweetness with more or less syrup based on the ripeness of your watermelon.
