- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cheese Filling:
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg yolk

Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 teaspoon of sugar.
- Let sit for 5-10 minutes, until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and remaining sugar.
- Add melted butter, egg, vanilla, and yeast mixture.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour, until doubled in size.

Make the Filling:
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk until smooth.

Assemble the Buns:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Divide dough into 10-12 balls and flatten slightly.
- Make an indentation in the center of each bun and fill with 1-2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture.
- Let rest for 15 minutes.

- Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown.

- Let cool slightly before serving.
