Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block firm tofu (pressed & sliced into thick cubes)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tbsp Sichuan chili oil
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tofu – Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into thick cubes.
  2. Marinate – In a bowl, mix soy sauces, Shaoxing wine, chili oil, five-spice powder, red pepper flakes, sugar, white pepper, and garlic. Toss the tofu cubes in the marinade and let them sit for 30 minutes.
  3. Bake or Air-Fry
    • Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.
    • Air-Fry: Air-fry at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes until chewy and golden.
  4. Coat & Serve – Drizzle with sesame oil and serve warm as a spicy snack or with rice!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, bake or air-fry for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Adjust the spice level by increasing or reducing the red pepper flakes.
  • Serve with a side of chili oil for an extra kick.
