Description

Give your Mardi Gras celebration a savory twist with this Boudin King Cake! Made with flaky puff pastry, Cajun-spiced boudin sausage, and melted cheddar cheese, this Louisiana-inspired dish is a showstopping appetizer or main course. Perfectly golden and buttery, it’s a unique take on the traditional king cake—ideal for parties, game nights, or any festive occasion!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 2 cups cooked boudin sausage, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp Cajun seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Evenly spread the crumbled boudin sausage and shredded cheddar cheese over the pastry.
  4. Carefully roll the pastry into a log, then shape it into a ring, pinching the edges together to seal.
  5. Place the ring on the prepared baking sheet and brush with the beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and flaky.
  7. Remove from the oven, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with Cajun seasoning.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy your savory Mardi Gras delight!

Notes

  • For an extra kick, add diced jalapeños or pepper jack cheese.
  • Serve with a side of Creole mustard or remoulade sauce for dipping.
  • If using raw boudin, cook it first and remove from the casing before crumbling.
