Ingredients

  • 2 cups full-fat milk powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron strands (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pistachios or almonds
  • Edible silver foil (varak) and sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mixture:

    • In a pan, heat ghee on low flame.
    • Add milk powder, sugar, and heavy cream, stirring continuously.
  2. Cook Until Thick:

    • Stir the mixture constantly for 10-12 minutes until it thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.
  3. Flavor & Set:

    • Add cardamom powder, saffron strands, and chopped nuts. Mix well.
    • Pour the mixture into a greased dish and spread evenly.
  4. Shape & Decorate:

    • Smooth out the surface and garnish with edible silver foil, sprinkles, and extra nuts.
  5. Chill & Serve:

    • Let the barfi set for 1-2 hours at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
    • Cut into squares and enjoy!
