Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Beef:

  • 1 lb top sirloin steak, tenderized and sliced thin

For the Lo Mein:

  • 8 oz Lo Mein noodles
  • 2 cups broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into chunks
  • 1 yellow onion, cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup carrots, julienned

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef:
    • Tenderize the steak and slice it thinly against the grain.
    • In a bowl, combine beef broth, chicken broth, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and cornstarch to create the marinade. Reserve half for cooking and use the other half to marinate the beef for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Cook the Beef:
    • Heat a skillet or wok over high heat. Sear the marinated beef in batches for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, add a little oil and sauté broccoli, red bell pepper, onion, and carrots for 5–7 minutes until tender-crisp.
  4. Thicken the Sauce:
    • Add the reserved sauce to the vegetables. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Cook the Noodles:
    • Prepare Lo Mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  6. Combine and Serve:
    • Add the cooked beef and noodles to the skillet with the vegetables and sauce. Toss until everything is evenly coated and heated through.
    • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Substitute top sirloin with flank steak or chicken for variation.
  • Add mushrooms, snap peas, or baby corn for extra vegetables.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a skillet.
