- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 cup shredded cheese (optional)
For the Pastry:
- 1 package (2 sheets) store-bought puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning
Instructions
1. Prepare the Filling:
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add onions and garlic, sautéing until soft and fragrant.
- Add ground meat, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and thyme.
- Cook until fully browned, then remove from heat.
- Let cool slightly and mix in shredded cheese if using.
2. Assemble the Hand Pies:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out puff pastry and cut into equal-sized rectangles.
- Spoon a portion of the filling onto half of the rectangles, leaving space around the edges.
- Place another rectangle of pastry on top and press the edges together with a fork to seal.
- Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning.
3. Bake & Serve:
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
