Ingredients

A crunchy, nutty twist on classic French toast! These Pistachio French Toast Sticks are golden, crispy, and coated in crushed pistachios for the perfect balance of sweet and crunchy. Perfect for breakfast or brunch!

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Bread

  1. Cut each slice of bread into 3-4 thick sticks and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Custard

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, honey (or maple syrup), vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Step 3: Crush the Pistachios

  1. In another bowl, mix the crushed pistachios and panko breadcrumbs (if using) to create a crunchy coating.

Step 4: Dip & Coat

  1. Dip each bread stick into the custard mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  2. Roll it in the pistachio mixture, pressing lightly so the coating sticks.

Step 5: Cook the French Toast Sticks

  1. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter.
  2. Cook each stick for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.

Step 6: Serve & Enjoy

  1. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup, honey, or Greek yogurt for dipping.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use half-and-half or heavy cream instead of milk.
  • Want extra crunch? Increase the panko breadcrumbs in the coating.
  • Make it ahead: Freeze cooked French toast sticks and reheat in the oven or air fryer for a quick breakfast.
