Description

This Parmesan Crusted Cod is a quick and healthy seafood dish, perfect for weeknight dinners. Tender cod filets are coated in a savory Parmesan crust and baked to golden perfection, delivering a crispy and flavorful bite every time.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Cod:

  • 4 cod filets (about 5 ounces each)
  • 1 large egg, beaten

For the Parmesan Crust:

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)

For Serving:

  • Lemon wedges
  • Tartar sauce (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray it with non-stick cooking spray.

2. Prepare the Coating Stations:

  • Place the beaten egg in a shallow dish.
  • In another shallow dish, mix together the grated Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes.

3. Coat the Cod Filets:

  • Dip each cod filet into the beaten egg, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  • Next, press the filet into the Parmesan mixture, coating all sides evenly.

4. Arrange and Bake:

  • Place the coated cod filets on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cod is opaque, easily flakes with a fork, and the crust is golden brown.

5. Serve:

  • Serve the Parmesan crusted cod hot with lemon wedges for a bright finish. Pair with tartar sauce or a simple side salad for a complete meal.

  • Cheese Texture: For a finer crust, use powdered Parmesan. For a coarser texture, use freshly grated Parmesan.
