Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed (110°F)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast:

    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
    • Let sit for 5 minutes, until foamy.
  • Make the Dough:

    • Stir in the melted butter, egg, and salt.
    • Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead & Rise:

    • Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
    • Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Shape the Rolls:

    • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into rectangles.
    • Fold each piece in half and place them in a buttered baking dish.
  • Second Rise & Bake:

    • Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Finish & Serve:

    • Brush the warm rolls with melted butter for a glossy finish.
    • Serve warm and enjoy!
