These Mini King Cake Bites are a fun and easy way to celebrate Mardi Gras! Made with crescent roll dough, a sweet cinnamon-cream cheese filling, and topped with a festive glaze and purple, green, and gold sugar, they bring all the flavors of a traditional King Cake in a bite-sized treat. - 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- Purple, green, and gold sanding sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Unroll the crescent dough and cut into small squares.
- Place a small spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each square, then fold the corners in to seal.
- Arrange on the baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- In another bowl, whisk powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over warm bites.
- Immediately sprinkle with purple, green, and gold sugar. Let set before serving.
Notes
- These bites are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- To add a traditional King Cake surprise, hide a mini plastic baby in one of the bites before serving!
- If you prefer a flakier texture, use puff pastry instead of crescent roll dough.
