Ingredients

Scale

Pie Crust:

  • 1 single pie crust (homemade or store-bought) – try our Flaky Butter Crust recipe!

Maple Filling:

  • 1 1/2 cups pure maple syrup (Grade A Dark recommended)
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp unbleached white flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Set oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Maple Filling:
    • In a heavy saucepan, bring maple syrup to a gentle boil over medium heat.
    • Let it cook for 5 minutes, reducing the heat if necessary.
    • Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted.
    • Stir in the heavy cream.
  3. Thicken the Filling:
    • Transfer ½ cup of the maple mixture to a small bowl.
    • Whisk in the flour and salt, then whisk this mixture back into the saucepan.
  4. Incorporate the Eggs:
    • In a small bowl, beat the eggs.
    • Slowly whisk them into the maple mixture until smooth.
  5. Assemble the Pie:
    • Roll out the pie dough and fit it into a 9-inch pie plate.
    • Pour the warm maple filling into the pie shell.
  6. Bake the Pie:
    • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the center is golden brown, bubbly, and set with a slight jiggle.
  7. Cool & Serve:
    • Let the pie cool at room temperature for at least 1-2 hours before slicing.
    • Serve as is or with a dollop of whipped cream!

Notes

  • Want a creamier texture? Add an extra 2 tbsp of heavy cream.
