Ingredients

Scale

For the Fried Fish:

  • 4 white fish fillets (tilapia, cod, or haddock)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

For the Lemon Butter Pasta:

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Juice and zest of 1 large lemon
  • 1 teaspoon capers
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare & Fry the Fish

  1. In a shallow dish, mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and ½ teaspoon salt.
  2. Pat the fish fillets dry and coat them in the seasoned flour, shaking off excess.
  3. Heat 4 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Fry the fish for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a plate and keep warm.

Step 3: Make the Lemon Butter Sauce

  1. In the same pan, melt 5 tablespoons butter over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the broth, lemon juice, and capers, stirring to combine. Let simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream, lemon zest, and reserved pasta water (as needed for consistency).

Step 4: Toss the Pasta & Serve

  1. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly.
  2. Top with fried fish, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve immediately!

Notes

  • Best Fish Choices: Use tilapia, cod, haddock, or halibut for a mild flavor and flaky texture.
  • Extra Creamy Option: Increase heavy cream to ¼ cup for a richer sauce.
  • Serving Tip: Pair with a side of garlic bread or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
