Description

Take your dinner to the next level with this Korean-Style Sweet and Spicy Chicken! Marinated in a flavorful mix of gochujang, honey, garlic, and rice vinegar, this quick gluten-free recipe can be cooked in the air fryer or oven for a delicious meal ready in 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat:

  • 6 boneless chicken thighs

Produce:

  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3 stalks green onions (sliced, for garnish)

Condiments:

  • 2 tbsp gochujang paste
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Oils & Vinegars:

  • 3 tbsp rice vinegar

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade:

  1. Mix the Marinade:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together gochujang paste, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and minced garlic until smooth.
  2. Marinate the Chicken:
    • Place the chicken thighs in a large bowl or zip-top bag. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is evenly coated. Marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator for deeper flavor.

Cook the Chicken:

  1. Air Fryer Method:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the marinated chicken thighs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  2. Oven Method:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the chicken on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly caramelized.

Serve:

  1. Garnish and Plate:
    • Garnish the chicken with sliced green onions and serve hot. Pair with steamed rice, kimchi, or stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Substitute gochujang with sriracha for a milder spice level.
  • For a crispy finish, broil the chicken for 2–3 minutes at the end of cooking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the air fryer or oven.
