Description

Italian Stuffed Calamari is a classic Mediterranean seafood dish filled with a savory mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan, herbs, and garlic. Tender calamari tubes are seared, baked, and served in a buttery white wine and lemon sauce, making it an elegant and flavorful entree perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

For the Stuffed Calamari:

  • 8 large calamari tubes, cleaned

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the White Wine Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup dry white wine

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, parsley, garlic, olive oil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.

  3. Stuff each calamari tube with the breadcrumb mixture and secure ends with toothpicks.

  4. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sear the stuffed calamari for 2–3 minutes per side until lightly golden.

  5. Transfer seared calamari to a baking dish.

  6. In the same skillet, add white wine, butter, and lemon juice. Simmer for 3–5 minutes.

  7. Pour sauce over the calamari in the baking dish.

  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until calamari is tender and cooked through.

  9. Serve warm with extra sauce spooned on top.

Notes

  • Do not overstuff the calamari—leave room for expansion.

  • Use toothpicks to secure the opening and prevent filling from spilling out.

  • Serve with crusty bread or a light salad for a full meal.
