Description

These Italian Peas are a quick, easy, and flavorful side dish made with tender green peas sautéed in olive oil with garlic, onions, and Italian herbs. Finished with a sprinkle of Parmesan, this light and healthy recipe pairs beautifully with any main course and is ready in just 15 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen or fresh green peas
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups frozen or fresh green peas
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté for 2–3 minutes until soft.
  2. Stir in garlic, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add peas and sauté for 5–6 minutes until tender and heated through.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Sprinkle with Parmesan if using, and serve warm.

 

 

Notes

  • Use fresh peas when in season for even more flavor.
  • Add a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness.
