Ingredients

Units Scale

Meat:

  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye, seasoned with salt and pepper)
  • 1/2 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined)

Produce:

  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
  • Juice of 1 lemon (plus zest for garnish)

Canned Goods:

  • 2 cups beef broth

Condiments:

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey

Oils & Vinegars:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Dairy:

  • 1 tbsp butter

Optional Side:

  • 1 cup cooked rice or pasta

Instructions

Prepare the Steak:

  1. Season the Steak:
    • Pat the steak dry and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the Steak:
    • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet, tent with foil, and let rest.

Prepare the Garlic Butter Shrimp Scampi:

  1. Cook the Shrimp:
    • In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce:
    • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute). Stir in the beef broth, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, honey, and lemon juice. Simmer for 4–5 minutes until the sauce reduces slightly.
  3. Combine:
    • Return the shrimp to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and lemon zest.

Serve:

  1. Plate the Dish:
    • Slice the steak and serve alongside the shrimp scampi. Pair with cooked rice, pasta, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Substitute beef broth with chicken broth for a lighter flavor.
  • For added richness, deglaze the skillet with 1/4 cup white wine before adding the broth.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
