Description

Celebrate Good Friday with a glass of this Homemade Blueberry Soda—a naturally sweet, antioxidant-rich refreshment made with real blueberries, lemon juice, and sparkling water. This fizzy, non-alcoholic drink is a vibrant and healthful way to toast spring, served ice-cold and made completely from scratch.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

  • 1/3 cup water

  • 2-3 tbsp honey or maple syrup (to taste)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • Sparkling water (plain or lightly flavored)

  • Ice cubes

  • Extra blueberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine blueberries, water, and honey or maple syrup.

  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer for 8–10 minutes until berries burst and syrup forms.

  3. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice.

  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a clean jar or bowl. Discard solids.

  5. Fill two glasses with ice. Add 2–3 tbsp blueberry syrup to each.

  6. Top with sparkling water and gently stir.

  7. Garnish with extra blueberries and serve immediately with a straw.

Notes

Adjust sweetness to your liking. This syrup keeps well in the fridge for up to a week. Try with lime instead of lemon or mix with soda water for extra fizz.
