  • Baking & Spices:
    • 4 cups Bread flour
    • 1 tbsp Instant yeast
    • 2 tsp Salt
    • Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
    • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • Liquids:
    • 1 1/2 cups Water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, mix the bread flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add water and honey, kneading until a smooth dough forms (about 8–10 minutes).
  2. Proof the Dough:
    • Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  3. Shape the Bagels:
    • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then poke a hole in the center and shape it into a bagel.
  4. Boil the Bagels:
    • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Boil each bagel for 1–2 minutes on each side, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
  5. Add Toppings:
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds (or other toppings) onto the bagels while still damp.
  6. Bake:
    • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake the bagels for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool and Serve:
