Description

This Ground Beef Philly Skillet is a quick and flavorful one-pan meal inspired by the classic Philly cheesesteak. Made with savory ground beef, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and melty cheese, this dish is perfect for a low-carb dinner or served over toasted rolls or rice. Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s an easy and delicious family favorite!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper (yellow or red), chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the vegetables – Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers, cooking for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  2. Cook the mushrooms and garlic – Add mushrooms and garlic, sautéing until mushrooms are tender.
  3. Brown the beef – Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until fully browned and no longer pink. Drain excess grease if needed.
  4. Season and mix – Add salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
  5. Melt the cheese – Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef mixture, cover the skillet, and let it melt for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Garnish and serve – Top with chopped green onions and serve hot with toasted rolls or over rice.

Notes

  • Swap ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • For a keto-friendly option, serve it over cauliflower rice or in lettuce wraps.
  • Add a splash of hot sauce or red pepper flakes for extra heat.
