Description

This Green Tea Milk Spread (Matcha Milk Jam) is creamy, rich, and infused with deep matcha flavor. Perfect for breakfast spreads, dessert fillings, or drizzling over pancakes, this luscious condiment combines earthy matcha with velvety milk and cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tsp high-quality matcha green tea powder, sifted
  • 1/4 cup hot boiled water
  • 3 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp dry milk powder (or cornstarch for thickening)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (or non-dairy alternative)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (or canned coconut milk for dairy-free)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Matcha Mixture

  1. In a heat-safe bowl, whisk sifted matcha powder with hot water until smooth.
  2. Stir in sugar and milk powder, mixing until fully dissolved.

2️⃣ Heat the Milk & Combine

  1. In a small saucepan, heat whole milk and heavy cream over medium heat until it reaches a gentle simmer.
  2. Slowly pour the matcha mixture through a fine sieve into the saucepan, whisking continuously.
  3. If lumps remain in the sieve, push through with the back of a spoon.

3️⃣ Cook & Thicken

  1. Reduce heat to low-medium and whisk periodically for about 20 minutes, until the mixture thickens and reduces by half.
  2. Test for thickness: Scrape the pot with a spoon—if a visible line forms, it’s ready. If not, continue cooking and whisking.

4️⃣ Cool & Store

  1. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Transfer to a jar and refrigerate. It will thicken more as it cools.
  3. Best consumed within 1 week.

Notes

  • Matcha Strength: Adjust matcha amount based on bitterness preference.
