Ingredients

Units Scale

Meat:

  • 6 strips bacon (cooked until crispy, chopped)
  • 2 large chicken breasts (cut in half lengthwise to make 4 thin pieces)

Produce:

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Canned Goods:

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Condiments:

  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

Baking & Spices:

  • All-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Dairy:

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

  1. Season and Dredge:
    • Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Lightly coat the chicken in flour, shaking off the excess.
  2. Cook the Chicken:
    • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Sauce:

  1. Crisp the Bacon:
    • In the same skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.
  2. Make the Sauce:
    • Reduce the heat to medium. Add the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the skillet. Stir in the heavy cream, lemon juice, and garlic powder. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Combine and Serve:

  1. Return Chicken to the Skillet:
    • Add the cooked chicken breasts back to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes to warm through.
  2. Add Bacon:
    • Sprinkle the crispy bacon over the top and serve immediately.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve over rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes. Pair with steamed broccoli, green beans, or a crisp salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for a juicier option.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a subtle heat.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to avoid curdling the cream sauce.
