Description

A rich, chocolate-pecan pie with a gooey center and a flaky crust, this Southern favorite is a must-have for Derby Day celebrations. With a hint of bourbon and a decadent filling, it’s the perfect dessert for any gathering!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Sprinkle the pecans and chocolate chips evenly over the bottom.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, bourbon, and vanilla extract.
  • Stir in the flour and salt until just combined.
  • Pour the filling over the pecans and chocolate chips.
  • Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the bourbon or replace it with an equal amount of milk.
  • Try using dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
