Description

These Cheesy Onion Crisps are a crispy, flavorful snack or party appetizer! Made with thinly sliced sweet onions, cheddar cheese, and ranch seasoning, they bake to a bubbly, golden perfection. Serve with ranch or marinara dipping sauce for an irresistible treat that’s easy to make and packed with flavor!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large sweet onions (sliced into 1/4-inch rounds)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 teaspoons ranch seasoning (or preferred seasoning blend)
  • Ranch or marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prep:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and lightly grease them.
  • Prepare the Onion Crisps:
    • Slice the onions into very thin rounds (about ¼-inch thick). You’ll need 16 slices in total.
    • On each baking sheet, arrange 8 small piles of shredded cheddar cheese, leaving space between them.
    • Place one onion round on top of each cheese pile.
    • Sprinkle evenly with ranch seasoning (or your choice of seasoning).
  • Bake to Crispy Perfection:
    • Bake for 11–13 minutes, watching closely towards the end to prevent burning.
    • The crisps are ready when golden brown and crispy.
  • Cool & Serve:
    • Let crisps cool for 5–7 minutes before removing from the baking sheets to allow them to firm up.
    • Serve warm with ranch or marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Slicing Tip: Use a sharp knife or mandoline for evenly thin onion slices.
  • Watch Closely: Crisps can quickly go from golden to burnt—keep an eye on them!
  • Seasoning Variations: Try Cajun, taco, Italian, or garlic parmesan for a flavor twist.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Reheating: Bake at 400°F for 2-3 minutes to restore crispiness.
