Ingredients

Units Scale

Produce

  • 7 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Baking & Spices

  • 5 cups flour (see note)
  • Garlic salt, to taste
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • Sea salt flakes, for garnish
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tsp yeast

Dairy

  • 6 tbsp salted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 4 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 4 oz parmesan cheese, grated

Liquids

  • 2 cups warm water

Instructions

  • Prepare the dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
    • Add flour and salt, then mix until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes, then cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Make the garlic butter filling:
    • In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, and fresh parsley.
  • Assemble the rollups:
    • Roll out the dough into a large rectangle (about ¼-inch thick).
    • Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the dough.
    • Sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  • Roll and cut:
    • Roll the dough tightly, like a cinnamon roll, then slice into 12 equal pieces.
    • Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 15-20 minutes.
  • Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Finish and serve:
    • Brush with extra melted butter, sprinkle with sea salt flakes, and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping!

Notes

  • Flour substitution: Use bread flour for a chewier texture or all-purpose flour for a softer roll.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for best results.
