Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Puff Pastry Carrots

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (for color)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric (for color)
  • Fresh parsley sprigs (for garnish)

For the Cheese Filling

  • 1 cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (or fresh chives, dill, or parsley)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Puff Pastry Carrots

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly dust the puff pastry with paprika and turmeric for an orange hue.
  3. Cut the pastry into ½-inch wide strips and wrap them around metal cone molds or homemade foil cones, slightly overlapping to create a carrot shape.

2. Bake the Pastry Cones

  1. Whisk the egg and brush it over the wrapped pastry for a golden finish.
  2. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  3. Let cool slightly before gently removing the cones.

3. Make the Cheese Filling

  1. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  2. Transfer to a piping bag or use a spoon to fill the pastry cones.

4. Assemble & Serve

  1. Insert fresh parsley sprigs into the top of each filled pastry to resemble carrot greens.
  2. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • No Metal Molds? Make foil cones or use rolled parchment paper.
  • Make It Spicy: Add a pinch of cayenne or chili flakes for a kick!
  • Storage: Best served fresh, but unfilled pastry cones can be stored in an airtight container for 2 days.
  • Dairy-Free Option: Use dairy-free cream cheese and vegan cheese shreds.
