- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or queso blanco
- 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a bowl, mix cornmeal, salt, and warm water. Knead until a soft, pliable dough forms. Let rest for 5 minutes.
- Shape the arepas: Divide the dough into equal portions. Flatten each into a disc, place cheese in the center, then seal and gently flatten again.
- Cook: Heat oil or butter in a pan over medium heat. Cook arepas for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
- Serve: Enjoy warm with butter or extra cheese on top.

- Use queso fresco, queso blanco, or any melty cheese for an authentic taste.
- For extra flavor, mix some shredded cheese directly into the dough.
