Description

Bratwurst Sliders with Mustard Kraut on Pretzel Buns are the ultimate savory snack, featuring juicy brat patties, melty cheese, and tangy sauerkraut-mustard slaw on soft pretzel buns. These mini brat burgers are perfect for Oktoberfest, tailgates, or game day gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground bratwurst sausage (casings removed if using links)

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 1/2 cups sauerkraut, drained and lightly chopped

  • 2 tbsp whole grain mustard

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for creamy kraut mix)

  • 6-8 mini pretzel slider buns

  • 4 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese, halved

  • 1 tbsp butter, melted (for brushing buns)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground bratwurst, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and black pepper. Gently mix and form into 6–8 slider-sized patties.

  • Cook the patties in a skillet over medium heat for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  • In a separate bowl, mix the sauerkraut with whole grain mustard and mayo (if using) to create a tangy slaw.

  • Slice and lightly toast pretzel buns.

  • Assemble sliders by placing a bratwurst patty on each bun bottom, topping with a cheese slice, a scoop of mustard kraut, and finishing with the top bun.

  • Brush tops with melted butter for extra flavor and shine. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Pretzel buns add a signature saltiness—can be substituted with brioche or slider rolls.

  • Try using spicy brown mustard for extra zing.

  • Great served with potato salad or German-style pickles.
