Description

For the Pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

For the Nut Filling:

  • 1 cup walnuts (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup pistachios (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

For the Cream Filling:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese or mascarpone
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Garnish:

  • 1/4 cup honey (for drizzling)
  • 2 tablespoons crushed pistachios

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pastry:

    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Roll out the puff pastry and cut into small circles.
    • Brush with egg wash and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and puffed.
    • Let cool.
  2. Prepare the Nut Filling:

    • In a bowl, mix chopped walnuts, pistachios, sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter until combined.
  3. Prepare the Cream Filling:

    • In another bowl, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form.
    • Fold in ricotta (or mascarpone), powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  4. Assemble:

    • Slice each baked puff pastry circle in half.
    • Spoon a layer of the nut filling onto the bottom half, followed by a dollop of the cream mixture.
    • Place the top pastry layer over the filling.
  5. Garnish & Serve:

    • Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with crushed pistachios.
    • Serve fresh.
