Instructions
1. Prepare the Patties:
- In a bowl, mix ground Wagyu beef with truffle oil, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper.
- Gently shape into 4 equal patties, slightly larger than the buns (they will shrink when cooked).
- Cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
2. Sauté the Onions & Mushrooms:
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized (about 10 minutes), stirring occasionally.
- Add mushrooms and garlic, sautéing for another 5 minutes until soft and fragrant.
- Season with a pinch of salt and pepper, then set aside.
3. Cook the Burgers:
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side (for medium-rare) or longer if desired.
- In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Gruyère cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
4. Assemble the Burger:
- Spread truffle aioli on the bottom half of each toasted brioche bun.
- Place the cheesy beef patty on top.
- Add sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions.
- Top with fresh arugula, then close with the top bun.
5. Serve & Enjoy:
- Pair with truffle fries or a simple side salad for a complete gourmet meal.
Notes
- No Wagyu? Substitute with high-quality Angus beef for a rich flavor.
- Want more truffle flavor? Drizzle a little extra black truffle oil before serving.
- Make it spicier by adding a dash of hot sauce or chili flakes to the aioli.
- Vegetarian Option: Swap the beef for a portobello mushroom or plant-based patty.
