Ingredients
-
6 ounces egg noodles
-
1 pound ground beef
-
1/4 cup butter
-
1/4 cup flour
-
1 cup beef broth
-
1 1/4 cups milk
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
1 teaspoon black pepper
-
1/4 cup sour cream
Instructions
-
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
-
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until fully browned, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat and transfer the beef to a plate.
-
In the same skillet, melt butter. Add flour and whisk constantly for 2 minutes to make a roux.
-
Slowly add beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps. Cook until thickened, about 3–4 minutes.
-
Gradually whisk in milk and continue to stir over medium heat until the sauce thickens, about 5–7 minutes.
-
Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
-
Reduce heat to low and return the beef and noodles to the skillet. Stir until well combined and heated through.
-
Add sour cream and mix gently until incorporated. Serve hot.
Notes
-
Use wide egg noodles or any pasta you have on hand, but don’t exceed 6 oz or the sauce may be too thin.
-
Double the recipe for meal prep or leftovers—it reheats beautifully.
-
Serve with green beans, salad, or garlic bread for a complete meal.
