  • 1 pack phyllo dough (thawed)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup beef broth

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven & Prepare Dish:

    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Cook the Beef Filling:

    • In a pan, heat olive oil and sauté onions until soft.
    • Add garlic and cook for another minute.
    • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
    • Season with cinnamon, allspice, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and remove from heat.
  • Layer the Phyllo Dough:

    • Lay one sheet of phyllo dough in the baking dish, brushing with melted butter.
    • Repeat the process with half of the phyllo sheets.
  • Assemble the Pie:

    • Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly over the phyllo.
    • Layer the remaining phyllo sheets on top, brushing each with butter.
  • Prepare the Egg Mixture & Bake:

    • In a bowl, whisk together egg, milk, and beef broth.
    • Pour evenly over the pie.
    • Score the top into squares for easy slicing.
    • Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden and crispy.
  • Serve & Enjoy:

    • Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
